Carrolite
|
Quality specimens of Carrolite are nearly impossible to acquire. The mine that they come from is a hard rock
mine where blasting is a regular practice. Since Carrolite is not what the miners are after, crystals are usually damaged
during the mining process.
This specimen is a rare exception to the rule. This cubic sulfide of the Linnaeite Group sports an undamaged
crystal with a mirror bright surface. Some overgrowth of Bornite and Chalcopyrite on the specimen adds interesting rainbow
colors.
