9 BULB LED LONGWAVE MINIFLASHLIGHT |
|
LONGWAVE mini flashlight is an ideal companion while searching for fluorescent minerals. Powerful
LED light reveals true longwave fluorescence at 385nm as shown in the photograph. Specimens are
,clockwise from top, Fluorite, Sodalite, Meionite and Opal. Minerals were photographed at 12" from the light. Longwave flashlight
is ideal for locating bacteria, body fluids and other pathogens that may lurk unseen in your home or that hotel room
you just rented! Perfect for identifying real versus counterfeit currency and most states have hidden emblems on their driver
licenses that are only visible under long wave UV light. UV flashlight is an excellent tool for CSI and police investigations.

The specimens listed below are from a recent excavation by
Mineralman in the
CALICO MOUNTAINS, MOJAVE DESERT, SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY,
CA.
Mineral fluorescence is much more vivid in person than can be captured with a camera.
The minerals in these specimens from the Calico Mountains
exhibit the following fluorescent color response:
- Colemanite- Blue/White and highly Phosphorescent
- Calcite- Yellow/ Cream
- Howlite- Purple/Blue
|
COLEMANITE ,CALCITE and HOWLITE
Beautiful clusters of Colemanite (bluish/white), Calcite (yellow/cream) and Howlite (purple/blue) crystals.
Excellent free standing cluster of crystals on top and a pocket of crystals on the side. Lots of smaller crystals disseminated
in the matrix. Very fluorescent under short and long wave. Enduring phosphorescence when exposed to short wave UV but
will also phosphoresce when exposed to long wave UV. This unique specimen location is referenced in "FLUORESCENCE
Gems and Minerals under Ultraviolet Light" by Robbins.
Large cabinet size specimen is 5" x 4" x 3"

Fluorite with Celestine
|
This outstanding specimen of FLUORITE belongs to a VERY SMALL sub-group of fluorescent
minerals. The fluorescence is due to hydrocarbon impurities incorporated within the crystal lattice of the FLUORITE during
formation of the crystals and not to other elements as is the case with the vast majority of fluorescent minerals. A
large pocket was discovered in November 2006 and became available to me in January 2007. See the Dec.
2007 MINERALOGICAL RECORD vol.38, number 6 pages 478 & 479 for a discussion regarding this unique find. These are the finest Fluorite specimens to come from this location in over 50 years
of mining!! A local dealer friend of mine who was in Ohio at the time purchased the majority of the pocket contents
from the miners. I purchased my stock from him. These fine FLUORITES are equally fluorescent
under short wave and long wave UV. The phosphorescence is remarkable under shortwave UV, lasting several minutes
(with a dark adapted eye) and noteworthy under longwave UV. Superb
example of this very RARE fluorescent FLUORITE on CELESTITE are now available. Add one to
your collection now while available. We may have to wait another 50 years for another unique find such as this! Note coin in natural light photo for scale. A rare and unusual find from the White Rock Quarry, Clay Center, Ottawa County, Ohio. 2 3/4" x 2" x 1 3/4"
